  • What's the deal with Horizon? I've been waiting for this model and associated parts for over 6 months and it seems every two weeks they push it back another month. Their website now says September!
Anybody need H9 ASW20 retracts, spoilers and recommended servos? I may have to go with a different model.

    • Horizon has no control over when the stuff is shipped. If it was up to them they would have it yesterday, doesn't that make sense?
I understand you're frustration, its a popular and fantastic flying plane. I will tell you that the one you have on order will be the last of the ASW20's
Good luck finding anything comparable for the $

If the weather is warm enough this weekend (it's been unseasonably cool) I'll lay up two or three tubs. Hope you don't mind polyester resin because that's what I use!

        • No problem with Polyester resin. It may be easiest for you if it just finds a ride to Cumberland, I can have Len pick it up there. I won't be there this year unfortunately. Thanks!!

          • How about if it gets a lift from Winamac in August? I'll be at Sled Works in MN so will miss Cumberland.

Put me down for wanting a cockpit tub as well!

                • Hi Michael.
If you're not tired of making parts, I'll take one also if you still feel itchy.

                  Thanks

                        • Has anyone found a replacement wheel and/or tire for the ASW-20.?
The tire on mine shattered into pieces on landing. Lots of 3-1/2" wheels available but all are too wide.

                          Dave.

                          • The closest I found, and was able to make work, is the Sullivan Skylite wheel with a metal hub. I had to sand off the lettering on the sidewall of the wheel and add a thin washer to each end of the axle to spread the gear legs just a scootch to get it to work. It works great though and spins freely. I haven't found any others that work.

                              • I had an issue with the spoilers at the last aerotow.
I am using all the Horizon recommended parts, spoilers, retract, voltage regulator etc.

When I first turn on the radio with a fully charged 6.6V Life, the spoilers (which run through the regulator) buzz and chatter then cease to operate.
After waiting about 5 or so minutes, the spoilers now will work, very jerkily and lots of chatter.
After about another 5 or so minutes the spoilers work correctly and for the rest of the day.

I contacted Horizon and they said to use the voltage regulator, which I'd already told them I was using. They also stated they do not know what voltage is compatable with the e-flite spoilers (6V max?)

The retract, which also runs through the regulator is unaffected as is the rest of the radio system

Anyone run into this issue? Perhaps I need to try an aftermarket (smart-fly) 5.2V regulator for the spoilers.

                                Cheers,
                                Dave.
