Added some reinforcing to the lower rear hatch with some carbon square "rod" that I had on hand. Then added fabric.

Mounting a "dummy" 170 template to get the prop hub position and check the cowl alignment.

Starting on the JIG using "tounge depressors" popsicle sticks. Hopefully it will just slide on and off.

Love the simple, smart dummy engine idea. This is going to be another beautiful bird!

        DLE-222 installation / conversion

        Firewall installation
4 layers of 1/8" Baltic birch glued together with Gorilla wood glue
Outer layers are 0.90 G10 material - on the original firewall was 0.60 G10.

West Systems and 404 high strength additive for attachment. 1" triangle stock on the rear side of the firewall.
        Gravity method.

Vertical Gravity method again for Positioning the DLE-222 "dummy"

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_6073.JPG Views:	0 Size:	89.6 KB ID:	45556

Checking to make sure things are lined up before taping it down and marking the holes.

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_6079.JPG Views:	0 Size:	66.1 KB ID:	45555 Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_6077.JPG Views:	0 Size:	81.4 KB ID:	45553 Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_6076.JPG Views:	0 Size:	118.1 KB ID:	45560

The rear of the DLE-222 has some Socket heads sticking out so extra holes are required - with a little fine tuning required.....aka ...Dremel tool.

Now I can install the rotisserie mount on the front and paint the fuselage.

Back to the wings, ...two spray coats of Poly-Brush to seal the fabric.

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_6095.JPG Views:	0 Size:	154.1 KB ID:	45601

And then the fun part , Poly-Spray UV protection and anti-model "see-thru" look.

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_6096.JPG Views:	0 Size:	178.9 KB ID:	45603 Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_6097.JPG Views:	0 Size:	170.3 KB ID:	45604 Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_6098.JPG Views:	0 Size:	165.5 KB ID:	45602

I have to wait 4 days for the solvents to boil off before I can spray the Aero-Thane, I put two coats of Insignia White 105 Poly-Tone to where the Omaha Orange is going to be applied.

Saw Steve P post about the DLE canisters and figured "what the heck" .......I got the DLE-170 tuned exhaust system since I'm going to be dumping two cylinders into one ( at different times thou ) I figured a little more volume would be helpful. I stuck my borescope inside to see what there and its pretty simple 2 chamber design - exhaust goes all the way to the back , exit tube goes all the way to the front with 4 rectangular punched holes partially pushed open ( one side still attached ). Kit comes the a 45 degree exit silicone line that makes positioning easy ( and anti-chaffing )
Getting the general layout while I wait for the exhaust stubs and other items from K & S in Germany.
K&S #506 comfort mounts as the Canisters are 75mm in diameter.

FWIW, I used Evolution cannisters. For all I know, they came from the same factory? ;-)

2 spray coats of Poly-Brush on the fabric area then 2 spray coats of Poly-Spray........followed by a little bit of sanding to smooth things out.
Then 1 coat of Insignia White Poly-Tone ( where the Omaha Orange is going ).

Now on to the front half with Primer.......

some minor sundry stuff while sanding out all that gravel......

Thought the Gas Caps looked a little thick so Mr Dremel and 4 cut-off wheels thinned things out.

Things are starting to get serious.....gluing the control horns in the Aileron.
Painted every thing to try to hide it as much as possible.
