So the plan (right now) is to have the rudder servo reside in the tail cone.

And the cone is mounted using 4-40 socket head bolts that is recessed in the balsa.

Wow! Thanks for the nice compliments Steve and Len. I just came home from our giant scale club meeting and it very well received. Last month I just brought in a couple of the CNC cut formers and couldn't believe how far I came along in one month...

Those wheels/tires look way bigger then scale.......is that what your going to use for the finial version?

Well Tom, your kinda correct. Stock out of the Cessns factory in 1/3 scale it would be 7" diameter. I.e 7" Du-Bro wheels. But Sinkhappens kept sending me pictures and videos of all the 185 bush planes up in Alaska. He and I are hooked on tundra wheels which would be 11 5/8" diameter. It saddens us that the owner PR Bush Wheels had passed away this past November. The wheels you see are 10" diameter and as for the final version it is uncertain at this time.

Those look correct........I kinda understand the “fetish” with the “BushWheels” compensating for other “inadequacies” but........we don’t tow off of rocky creek beds. So the tires/wheels that are used when the plane is put into service as a tug would be the “scale” choice........I’m pretty sure you said that this whole endeavor was to produce a “scale tug”, right?

Just an FYI about the large bush wheel type tires, be careful on asphalt. If you get crossed up as the wheels touch down, the side walls roll over and can cause the plane to crash or can damage the rims. I love them on grass.

On Esprit web site, they show Large Tundra Airtop wheels up to 8 inch...(french) I have used these on my Pegasus 108% they are a bit heavy but not fragile.

Yup, they are good, I have the 8" on my 1/3 scale cub. Their picture.

How do the 8" tundra wheels look on the 185?

Don't know, they are on my cub. What I can tell you is that when you store the model on these wheels you must jack the plane up off the floor so you don't get severe flat spots. It take a long time for the flats to become round again.

I have had the same experience but I find by rolling the model around a bit before take off...they seem to get round again. I store my Pegasus off the ground so I don't get severe flat spots...
