This past weekend the 1/3 scale Bunny Nose LK-10A took its first flight with only a bit of tremor. A tad nose heavy but elevator trim quickly corrected the situation.
After the maiden the aileron rate was reduced by half making the second flight much smoother.

Jim, Thanks for following the build, covering is Oratex® silver with a cover coat of clear matte and it is much better that the old Soarltex covering. Much lighter and easier to work with. I used Rustolium 2X paint but the trim tape was a failure as it pealed up the base coat of white on the wings, Even patched up, in other words only looks great at a distance. Hope to maiden it at Visalia in May.

I really enjoyed following your build. The LK looks great and I'm sure will be a great flyer. I was wondering what you used for covering and your painting process. I always want to learn from the master........

With the weight and balance complete only as check of the flight controls was needed before the maiden flight next month.

Work continues on the LK but a bit slower to insure it gets done correctly. The fitting of the canopy bows and edge covers takes time also. The front canopy latches are in the process of assembly while the canopy edge covers were painted and primed to make finishing just that much easier. While the paint drys the fuselage wiring harness was trimmed to length and connectors attached.

The spoilers have occupied my time these few weeks but "By-Golly" they even work.

With the wingtip sheeting now complete it was time to cut loose the Ailerons, "free at last". The pre-drilled hinge blocks were installed back when the Aileron spars were placed on the wing ribs so all that need to be done was face the two surfaces. Now working on the Aileron drive system.

Thanks Gunny, the shop cat is usually well behaved except if there is an open transmitter case on the workbench. Having only three legs will not stop him from finding a way to lay in it, this time he was sleeping.
So much for “just for the fun of it†work on the LK cockpit areas for now at least. After cleaning up the workbench today it will be back to work on the wings with finishing the tip sheeting, ailerons and then constructing the spoilers.
