Seat pans all dressed out and a pair of fine lads from Axel fit like a charm.

Got the canopies fitted tonight -- too much yard work today -- and realized I needed to add cables to help them from opening too far.2 PhotosTeam PowerBox Systems Americas... If flying were the language of men, soaring would be its poetry.

Completely unscientific experiment here: I balanced the DG in my basement workshop essentially holding it up on two CG marks on the bottom of the wing. You know, the old and too frequent way.

Wanting to be certain, today I reassembled the plane in the garage and placed it on the high quality/accuracy CG balance rig, installed all the pans and equipment, etc. Yep, 6.5 more ounces were needed to achieve the recommended 70mm from the LE CG.
All told, 77 ounces + 6.5 for a whopping 83.5 ounces in the snout of this beast!1 PhotoTeam PowerBox Systems Americas... If flying were the language of men, soaring would be its poetry.

Day one was a success. Very windy conditions, but the DG took it all. Only adjustments were to remove down elevator compensation from landing mode -- spoilers and down inboard ailerons cancel each other out for very smooth, scale-like landings. I ordered this true scale so there are no flaps. Also removed 1.5 ounces of lead from the nose with likely more to come out once it is flown in calmer conditions for a few dive tests.
Plane tracked beautifully behind the tug with just a camber preset. Travels around the sky very well, Indicated lift and turns in lift well, and will do a few thrill circuits of the field at low level without giving up much altitude. There is not much aileron surface so when it is travelling slowly, ailerons are a bit sluggish. Add speed and everything is just fine.
Looking forward to flying it at Cumberland later in July.

The definition of great service. Somehow, someway last weekend at the Cumberland Summer Soar, the side plate on the retract of the DG cracked.
Look what arrived today from Slovenia...

Okay, a boring post... but after weeks of being stuck in customs it looks like my new wings with larger ailerons and the addition of flaps (should tow better and gives full TE camber) are finally about to hop a flight to JFK. Lord knows how long they'll linger on this side!?
Mibo has one more complete DG in stock. With their thriving giant scale jet business and the success of their F5J planes, the scale sailplanes are just not a priority. If anyone is interested, I can hook you up with Bogo's email. I don't know pricing. Shipping is air from Slovenia via TNT freight.1 PhotoTeam PowerBox Systems Americas...
