update: I took extra time to make a few jigs. one for the drum and one for the release setup/shaft. Since it looks like I'll be making several, the time is well spent up front to do these things. I made several control boards and setup the CNC with better nesting to cut more at once. Still working on a video that should get someone to a happy end result. I'm still tracking to sending out the first couple next week. The rest of the parts I need for the next 6 winders should show up next week as well. Thanks for your patience. I'll reach out to you as soon as yours is available but it should be soon.

love the look of the winder i received.. i am only waiting on a 20ch power safe telem spektrum rx to replace my full 12ch so i can use this in my bidule.. didnt notice the rx was full until i went to look into the install......

anyone have an rx to sell let me know.

mark i only have one thought upon un rolling the provided line on the spool i found the line catch on the screw heads a few times.. wondering if i should coat that area with some silicone with an angle to prevent this or if it will even be an issue when guys grab it to unwind as i taxi away............

You could or replace them with flat top screws. Honestly, we haven't had a problem there at all. When the line is being pulled off, it should be pulling towards the center...

Dang! I heard the Spek receivers are tough to come by right now...I'm an openTX guy. Slap the ailerons on an old school Y and go?

too much draw on each servo to trust a y and i also have differential in the tx for ailerons. steffan fixed me up today with a 20ch on its way so things will only be a week or so until flying. i think i will place a bit of silicone on the screw heads on the inside of the hub and feather it out a bit away from center that should fix things from catching. but yes a button head hex drive screw would fix it for sure. it is the cross of the phillips head catching things. i could maybe just sand the screw heads a bit also.............

All sounds like a good plan...I like the idea of button head hex screws myself...

I prefer hex head screws to Phillips. Many times I pay the price to swap them out on items I have purchased.

A quick addendum to the manual:

                I received this question:
"Tried to run the winder, It's not working, Fresh charge on lipo 2 cell, connected to my radio, plugged in the battery. Green light is flashing and the red light is flashing on the speed controller. The winder doesn't run, no beeping, just lights flashing, unplugged the battery, plugged back in same thing,"

                Response:
"Reverse the direction on the channel out of the receiver for whatever switch you are using. It won't allow a start in the "wind" position at startup. If right, it will arm and beep through the motor. It has to start in the ""not wind" switch position when power is applied to the winder.''
This fixed it right up. I believe he was using Jeti. Not sure all the parameters but back in the day some manufactures had an opposite opinion on which way is high and low PWM. In any case, if this happens to you, just reverse the channel and try it. if it is started in the "wind" position, a power cycle will be required to arm the speed control.

                Another question:
"which direction should I run the towline on the drum?"

                Response:
"without getting in a debate over how the toilet paper is put on the holder, I recommend bringing the towline 'over the top'

"Over the Top" is how mine is set and it works perfectly, assuming like Mark says, that the switch is in the right position, if not it will NOT arm and it will not retrieve....it takes awhile to remember to
start the rewind at the top of the tow in addition to adding your flaps and staying clear of the glider and all the rest of what needs to happen on the way down...once on the ground, remember to reset the switch again....

for all these reason plus one more, i like the momentary switch for this.
the one more: my momentary switch is on the opposite side as my release and the same side as my flaps (slider) so its very separated in my head. once all done with the towjob (moderator is that word allowed?) , all things on my right: flaps down, towline retract, navigate down through the gaggle of sailplanes...
