RC Aerotow. Soaring. Thermals.
Enjoy fall foliage, mountains, thermals and a great location for RC soaring nestled right at the base of Hogback Mountain in Bristol, Vermont. Share the skies with our trusty mascot Red Tail Hawks hunting lift at the 2016 SeptemberSoar Treffen Aerotow. Any RC sailplane that can be aerotowed and electric powered sailplanes are welcomed, please no winches.

This is a 3 day event. FEE is $35 for all 3 days, this included 1 BBQ Ticket for the pilot. Individual days are $10 per day, PLUS $5 for the BBQ Saturday evening. Non-Pilots and family member are welcome at the BBQ for only $5 per person. Spectators are encouraged to view and are FREE.

When are others planning to arrive...Thursday afternoon?

How late does this event go on Sunday?

This would be a nine hour drive for me, so I a thinking of driving up on Thursday And arriving around 5:00 pm. As for departure, it would suit best to stay Sunday night and then drive home on Monday...in which case, it would be nice if others stay for a full day of flying on Sunday.

Hi Jim,

I'm planning on driving up Thursday morning. It is a 3 hour drive for me, so easy to get there by 9 AM. I'll fly until mid afternoon on Sunday and leave around 3ish. I'm guessing len will go up Wednesday afternoon.

Due to the cost of hotel rooms in the area, I'll be arriving Thursday mid morning probably and leaving sometime in the afternoon/evening on sunday. Its about a 5 hour drive for me

The plan:

Not counting gas and rest stops, the trip is 9 hours for me, so I plan to drive up on Wednesday. Will stay at the Marriott Courtyard in Middlebury Wednesday and Thursday night. Since no rooms were available for Friday and Saturday night, I will camp at the field those nights. After flying Sunday, will drive about half way home and stay in Mahwah, NJ Sunday night and finish the drive home on Monday.

Anyway, this will give me a full day at the field on Thursday, so will anyone else be there early?

If all goes according to plan, I will arrive on Thursday around noon. Planning on camping at the field as well.

Unfortunately it looks like work related issues are going to keep me here at least thru Friday. That could change on a last minute notice but at the moment it does not look good to make the trip up.

That's Marc's fantastic back yard! 13 acres of VT beauty. We pick up the trailers Thursday AM and relocate to the flying site.
