ID:	4381 Well folks am back again.
I am modifying the wings to have scale flaps, spoilers/dive brakes and ailerons.
The scale flaps are of Fowler type flaps that extends from the wing and drop 8°. The real one has 4 tracks guide slots roller bearings and bushings. To make this into a quarter scale I found would be very difficult. So after a month of scratching my head I came up with a simple solution to achieve the same results. Then a couple weeks of engineering and designing prooved that it would work on paper. But as an engineer you know what looks good on paper not necessarily works in the real world. So, off to make a Proto-type. I made 2 prototypes. One was a proof of concept and the 2nd one a working mockup.

The 1st thing to do is to strip the covering off of the entire wing separate the aileron's and flaps. Next I removed the internal structure for the spoilers.

I'm sorry to inform you guys that my computer is not playing nicely with scale soaring.com forum. My 2nd post cant upload my pictures from the digital camera where I have many pictures.
However, you can check out the build thread on the other Groups forum where my pictures can be uploaded and works fine. Thanks Jim for trying to guide me in the right direction of getting my pictures to work piece here but the form says my pictures are corrupted.

Gunny- what I did for a Yokosuka D4Y 'Judy' was have the Fowler flaps driven by unequal length and off axis cranks on a torque rod. The flaps are attached to extensions that ride in tracks. as per full scale. If you'd like to see the design then I can e-m it to you. Just PM addy to me. My crappy ISP doesn't play nice with the website. Also, I have pics of yours and Rick's birds at Cumberland I can send.

            Gunny,

I have similar issues and upload my picture on Flickr and copy and past the link of the image.

That is the faster and cleaner way I found...

              So Gunny,
Can we see what you are working on or have created?
              Thanks

Here is the elusive image. I had to use a bigger hammer on the forum!

(note: I did open this in Photoshop, resave as .jpg high compression and overwrite the original file before uploading)

well, I finally finished it. The flaps were a challange to engineer but mechanically works flawlessly, but not worth the the weight or performace that it does'nt give you.

Maybe Jeff D. can post some better pictures here that he took at the Salem Meet last month.

Since it is done I wont go into details with wording and just let the pictures do the explaining.

                      Removing the existing spoiler structure.
