Hello folks,
The cockpit kit would have never happened if it was'nt for my good friend Jim D. Who by the way built an outstanding 1/4 scale 2-33 cockpit back on the old forum a long time ago.
So, last year he contacted me about having a cockpit "kit" or some laser cut side panels for his new 1/3 scale 2-33 project. Cockpits are a really hard to do from scratch. What I did for him was to cut out the formers and the floor for him to build a cockpit mock-up, which he did a really nice job. From there he made thin card stock templates for all the panel side pieces and seats. When I recieved these templates.... I sat on them for a couple of months staring at those templates. I built up enough courage and just jumped right in and broke it down in sections and tackled it one section at a time until it was right. Another month later the kit was finished and many of us now have them in our models, See www.aviationconceptsrc.com
So, I have a skeleton structure in my shop of this nicly made cockpit area. What to do with it? Hate to throw it out! Well. Jim said "Make a cockpit display model out of it." Jim, what a great idea! Brilliant! So a big THANK YOU to Jim D. for blazing the way.....
I'll be bringing this to the aero tow meets and in between meets... It will be a conversational piece on my coffee table.
The picture below is showing the skeleton with some of the floor parts and rudder peddals installed.
