After a slight vertical landing last fall in cumberland, I had to assess the usual stress around the back canopies of the plane.

Stress is cause by scissors effect between the wing that are stiff so quite heavy and the weak part of the fuse that is between the wings. Too much opening with not enough meat lead to shear...

Should have done that stiffening before...

I liked the way Don did on his plane, basically rip the back windows, stiffen the area, a bit of putty, paint and windows are simulated by using black vinyl. Great idea that I duplicated on mine

At first couple layers of fiberglass and epoxy to fill the holes.
I used a sheet of mylar on the outside to layup with the correct shape

Then tearing up the bead of fiberglass tow that join the two haves together (really painful to not damage everything), using scrapping blades and coarse sand paper

After, lay up of carbon fiber cloth (heavy) as a ring on front and back of the fairings as on the split halves

    And.... Putty and sanding...

When Kevin and I were aerotowing at Harris Hill, I noticed the fuse behind the canopy was getting pretty weak. Sort of copied Stephane in that I took out the windows and fiberglassed all around the inside. Much stronger now. Also got the scale tow release installed. Thanks Gunny.

Anyone here find a wheel that will outlast the stock one. I have now gone through 3. No dramatic landings this week, but the brand new wheel cracked and fell off.

Yes, just got my sullivan wheel in the mail. Used a spare gear assembly drilled out for the proper axle. Will try it Cumberland.

                          Sorry to hijack this converstion.

I am about to get Blanik 2.0 myself. On version 1 I used Spektrum A6260 servos for ailerons, flaps, rudder. Seems that servo is no longer available. Suggestions for alternative?
