Pulled out of the bag the left upper panel of the Janus and quite happy with it

Most of the work will be needed to be done on that side, spar, joiner box....

LE in shape, some glass tow will be put in there before laying up the lower surafce of the wing

830g or 29Oz quite happy of the weight of the wing in that stae

looks great Stephane!...interesting process and all so different than the balsa and rib building I have always done. Look forward to seeing her behind a tow plane in the near future!

they will stay in one piece, this will keep them lighter and stronger

off course you need the car or trailer where it fits...

Received some 3/4in 7075 T6 aluminum wing joiner for couple projects, time to make some wing tubes to move the Janus project

                    Thanks Len

Some result of yesterday work : three beautiful wing tubes

                    Secrets you said?
Well first two turn of parchment paper that is held in place by two tiny pieces of tape on the sides
And then stick glue to tape the fiberglass to the parchment paper
Then two turns tight and lets soad with epoxy
                    Roll, soak, roll soak....

Let is dry and just remove it from the mandrel....

                      What about today?

lets look at the spar material, this time it will be balsa (3) glass (2) sandwich to gain weight versus lite ply previously used.

So like a cake, one layer of balsa 1/16 on layer of 6Oz glass and 1/1 weight ratio of epoxy then the same up to get 3 layers...

Sans titre by steffruelle, sur Flickr

then let it dry between two sheet of plastic and apply some weight to it to keep it flat and glue it good!

Sans titre by steffruelle, sur Flickr

                      150g for 1sqft about 6Oz/sqf

Times comes for the joiner box, slices are cut in 4mm luan plywood

joiner box are 20cm wich let me put 3 degrees of dihedral by wings

                        here is some sketching

and lets glue together the slices with polyurethane glue

Formal check of the dihedral with the joiner

Lets go after carving the sides, with an electrical file it is much easier

And here it is 75g a piece

                          Let open the spar slot

I picked a trick from one of my friend Pascal, the use of a circular saw to open slots in styrofoam:

Just very easy when you can set the depth, just use a good guide and it does a really good job.

please take time to admire my guide, very very expensive!

I set it in place by drilling three small holes on the side I am not using and putting music wire pins in styrofoam through it to hold it in position

I think I aged quite a lot through that process...

Here is a small trick to remove pieces of styrofoam, the use of a steel ruler...
