  • Tony Fiorentino

I’ve been asked to post to the group that Tony Fiorentino of Pensacola, FL, passed away this afternoon, September 6, 2023. If you’ve been involved with scale sailplanes and aerotowing for a good while you probably knew or knew of Tony.
He was a life-long modeler and was involved in many aspects of model aviation but focused on scale sailplanes and aerotowing in later years. He was a full-scale pilot and owned several airplanes and a small airport on the edge of Pensacola where he hosted the Pensacola Aerotow for many years. This event was usually held in February which can have some of the best weather for modeling events in the Deep South. It attracted many snowbirds looking for an opportunity to fly during the winter months.
Tony was a naval aviator who attended law school after his tour of duty and then returned to the Navy as a JAG officer. He was in private practice for many years and was involved in other business ventures as well.
He loved aviation, Pensacola and the many friends who enjoyed his sense of humor, personality and willingness to help.
He will be missed as will be his caution to his modeling friends, “don’t land too long or short as you may wind up in the Toolies.”
