  • Interesting observation

I was out flying this weekend at my local field, bundled up in my mask when I observed an interesting phenomena.

When flying a high speed pass, lets say 2 feet off the ground, there can be considerable buffeting.
When flying a high speed pass, lets say 6 feet off the ground, there is much less buffeting.

    So there is a difference.

Ok, now for the interesting part.

When flying a high speed pass 1/4" too low, there is ZERO difference to flying a high speed pass at 3 feet too low. Hmmm

Hello Horizon..... please send me another.........

Did I miss something? Must have left too early.

Making those low passes started his pulse pounding, which in turn made him start breathing harder, which in turn caused the air escaping around his face mask to fog up his sunglasses, which in turn caused him to misjudge his altitude, which in turn entertained the observers (standing at least 6' away), which in turn caused him the lesson learned, which in turn increased Horizon's sales, which in turn support the hobby.

I thought this phenomenon was called the ground effect. All aircraft can be affected by it.

...or in this example, the in-ground effect.

Flying too close to the edge of the air is what causes that effect;-) it's exciting but can only be done once.

In my experience the difference is where the debris field starts.

Was that photo the 1/4 inch low one or the 3 ft low one? How do they compare? Are the grass stains different?

Maybe instead of wrecking airplanes you should fix that front walkway! Surprised the UPS man hasn’t broke an ankle! 😃

You’re not “essential” in Connecticut? Here in Va. it’s business as usual.....starting a new bathroom project next week.

One broken, but two boxes.....? Common core math or just an insurance policy? Horizon shipping that quickly? Maybe the highest performing, easiest to fly Hog yet, isn't quite so easy?? Cool airplane though! Hope this one/these work out better.
