I'll second Xroadie's comment! What an awesome venue! Tina and John sure have a great place and were the most gracious hosts! Thanks to Skip and Gil for taking time from their schedules to aerotow! Got tows from Asher, Kris and Jeremey, too... thnx fellas! Sure was fun flying and 'talking sailplane' with everybody! The ol' Vampyr got the first official flight with a tow provided by Skip and it got the last flight thanks to Xroadie. It was a 'boomer' flight, too! Easily 30 minutes. I'm 'in' for next year. The tentative date will be first weekend after Labor Day weekend.

WOW! Just a fantastic weekend and successful first aerotow for the Clover Creek Aerodrome team. John, Tina, Gil and Skip seem to work together like clockwork. Their hospitality is second to none and the venue is truly remarkable. The amenities are just amazing with an air conditioned flight line hangar, more than enough storage for assembled planes, swimming pool & hot tub, outdoor kitchen, party room, RV hook ups, etc, etc. It's the kind of place you just have to see to believe.
I think the final count was around 16 registered pilots representing AL, MO, TX, FL, KY, TN and AR. The weather couldn't have been nicer with warm (sometimes hot) days with nice, cool evenings sitting by the fire pit. The food was awesome and the camaraderie was, as always, fantastic.
I think I had the only mishap when I collapsed the nose gear on my Bidule. Nothing major; a patch to the firewall and a little reinforcement is all that's needed. More to come about this in the Bidule 111 thread. Before I forget, extra thanks to Skip for his help in tuning the DA.
My thanks to John, Tina, Gil and Skip. You all go out of your way to make us all feel at home and to provide the best of everything. I can hardly wait until next year! For those of you who weren't fortunate enough to attend, be sure to put this on your calendar and/or bucket list.Last edited by Asher Carmichael; 09-21-2015, 08:04 PM.

Well, it's all been said above, great place and great host's. I will add that I was the first to fly a Turbine at this Aerodrome thank's to John who gave me the thumbs up after his scrutineering of the Pilatus Porter He and Gil even got to fly it, Skip you can have a go next time around. It flew all 3 days and we even did some nice tows with it, Pete and Chris even commented how well it towed. I hope to tow with it at the Huntsville Aerotow in 2 weeks. I enjoyed the event so much I may be going back this weekend with Janet for their Fun Fly. It was good to see the usual faces and new ones, thanks to Christian and Claudia for making the long trip and his entertainment with both his EDF Ventus and Arcus, always cool to watch.
So this event get's the SCC Stamp of approval

Don't feel bad Asher... my Balestruccio got ground looped and the wing roots are pretty messed up each wing. It'll be a tough one to fix. NARCA will only see the Vampyr.

Yes...Jeremy towed my 1/3 scale Ventus 2cx, with no trouble. After seeing how well it flew I was first in line for a tow! Ashers Bidule 111 towed great too, I am very impressed with this model...I am not a fan of non-scale tugs...but those things are neat
I got great tows with from Kris with his Porter as well....he towed the 1/2 scale KA6 just great. Skip, Gil and John all had turns at towing gliders with a "Lend Lease" Pawnee from the Snatch Towplane Supply Company.
Thanks guys for all the great tows...and thank you John, Tina, Gil and Skip for making the event happen. The weather was perfect all four days....more lift than I can remember and not a drop of rain. The lift was so strong and easy to find that the tugs went quiet several times as every sailplane was aloft and thermaling. It was the first time I've been to an event for four days and my van didn't move an inch. It was like staying at a resort! What a perfect location for one of our events...or almost any model airplane event..... Cant wait till the next one

We can only chime in the praise for the Clover Creek Aerodrome weekend! It was well worth the long drive from Greenville SC.
What a fantastic experience it was ... great location, great weather, wonderful people, and awesome hosts! The accommodations along with the delicious and plentiful food provided by John and Tina were outstanding! Christian especially liked the delicious Pineapple-Mandarin Orange cake
It most certainly was a great group of people and hopefully we all will meet again --> definitely at next years Clover Creek Aerodrome event!
Special thanks to Chris for the nice "tree level towing"!
Btw: we were representing SC (to be added to the list of attending States)
Attached a few pictures.

Oh my gosh, how could I forget South Carolina? It was such a pleasure having Christian and Claudia join in the fun! Those beautiful EDF powered EMS sailplanes and your German accents colored with a long tenure in the American South had everybody's attention during the weekend. I think John was really fighting the urge to order an EMS sailplane on the spot.
Hopefully we will see you in Huntsville.
