  • Aeroworks Carbon Cub Modifications

I had a request to re-post some of the modification I made to the Aerotoworks Carbon Cub. There's another good thread on this forum dealing with the plane, but here are the mods I made to mine

Modifying the rear fuse for a removable hatch and tow release.

First, cover the rear fuselage where the hatch will reside with duct tape. The surface of the duct take will not allow the fiberglass resin to stick to it.

Cut the cloth needed to make the hatch, in this case I used carbon fiber... After all, it is a Carbon Cub.

After curing, carefully trim to size and fit the cover around the tow release.

I sand back the top coat and add another 2 coats of resin.

A heat gun will help the resin flow, be careful not to get it too warm or it will cure too fast.

All sanded down, polished, and ready for service.
