A little break from building in this thread, was able to maiden the Yellow Pawnee at Cumberland. Spent about half the day waiting for the gusty winds to calm down, then the wind started back up as soon as I took off. Despite the winds, it flew great! Towed the rest of the weekend with it!
Back to the Swiss Pawnee, fuel tanks are built, a little replacement covering done on the fuse to match the rudder, elevator and wingtip repaired. Picked up servos from Jeremy at Cumberland, thanks ModelBox!
Little known fact... the original Swiss Pawnee was one of the first kits delivered and served as the Horizon Hobby promotional build for Fly RC Magazine. When more appeared on the scene, I dressed it up differently so it didn’t look like every other one. It also went from the stock 80 to a DA120 with the help of Len who built the internal canister section in the fuselage. We learned the 100s being flown at the JR Aerotow needed a little more “mo†to overcome the plane’s drag when hauling bigger or slippery stuff.
Good to know some of its surviving parts will fly again. Thanks for sharing your efforts.
Team PowerBox Systems Americas... If flying were the language of men, soaring would be its poetry.
