The primary reason for the Bird Dog was the form factor allows for internal canisters. Although the Smelly is a awesome design it’s very difficult to hide canisters inside the fuse. As more fields become noise sensitive it’s important that I try to incorporate canisters in my tow plane designs. Additionally a high wing design is less affected by the Sailplane in pitch due to the tow location. Being closer to the center of pressure.
