Thanks everyone in our club that donated all their time to set-up, work the aerotow line, help with new member questions, monitor the registration table and help out cooking. Glad it went as well as it did. Thanks for all the support from everyone who attended, we LOVE to keep the scale sailplane enthusiasm meter pegged! Always welcome anyone back here to Vermont for more aerotowing and soaring.
Cheers, Thompson

Thanks to the Green Mountain folks and their families for the warm welcome and great event. This is a fabulous location. The weather turned out great with that steady wind keeping us cool in the sun over the first two days. It was great to meet and fly with the locals, the Canadians, as as always our traveling aerotowing roadshow.
Always have to thank the tow pilots, they were great and always available as we have come to expect.
I'll be back next year.

Team Long Island got back at 9:30 pm. As mentioned above thank you very much for your hospitality and great flying facility and weather this year. The barbecue was absolutely fantastic. I was impressed to see eight campers there this year! That makes it fun by itself too.
I enjoyed the complementary maple syrup from Vermont that we received during check-in registration. The next morning we enjoyed it with French toast.1 Photo

Hey, yes as said what a great weekend of friends and flying and nature. The site, as was the drive there and back, spectacular. The weather was perfect and the thunder, lightning, deluge rain and wind storm late Saturday night added some extreme excitement to camping with a pup tent! Woke up at 5:30 and watched the sunrise. Thanks to all who put on the event, bbq and the tow guys for going the extra mile. Hope to see you all again in NY or Cumberland. best, Matt5 PhotosLast edited by hello82; 09-21-2015, 06:06 PM.

What can be added that hasn't already been said. Great time, great weather and exceptional people.
Windy Saturday? Yeah, but straight down the runway and smooth as silk!! I'll take that anytime. Even with the wind, the tugs ran all day.
Mark, Thompson, Tony, Josh, Mike, and all the others who put this event together are quickly developing a first class event which is now a MUST attend event. Flying with the mountains in the back-round and wide open approaches are something you should not pass up. The Saturday evening dinner, provided by Josh's wife and family members, was a blessing at the end of a busy day.
Thanks to our tow pilots, Bob, Mike, Tony, Marc for chipping in and keeping the sailplanes flying.

Just got in from the September Soar.
I was able to enjoy Saturday and Sunday at the event. Absolutely wonderful !!
I had the chance to get some time in on the Bidule and also get some flights on my Arcus yesterday.
The weather was wonderful, although a tad windy on Saturday.........very good for me to practice my landings though ! Amazing lift even with the wind on Saturday and flying today just got better and better as the day moved on.
It is always very special to be at these events. Everyone goes out of there way to offer help and lend a hand......working on sailplanes and towplanes, helping to get things set up and taken down, and helping put things away after a long day. The friendship and camaraderie makes these events very wonderful.
A special thanks to Len who always tows with a smile on his face and gives tremendous help, coaching, and support to all.
And very importantly: Many thanks to all the many people of the Green Mountain Thermal Corp.......Marc, Josh, and the many others that made this event so special, and for inviting us to be there at such a beautiful time of year at the Layne Farm in Vermont.
Looking forward to next year already.

Workhorse Bidule(s)
Yes, it was THAT windy again. Lost canopy on Tom M. Blanik… Where's Shaggy and Scooby when you need them!?!
Winds finally decided to calm down just in time for dinner, Vermont style.

Pilots in the groove.
Happy place for one, yes it was that windy…
Moo on you
Bob M's Arcus in for a windy approach… wait for it down at the end, then back up and…. Woah! Jeff D and Dan were caught out, but luckily were on it — love to see it from Jeff's lens!

Beautiful warm weather, but super windy. Strong 12+ mph gusting to 23 south winds. Most pilots found comfort in the ridge soaring from natural landscape, the rise at the end of our runway from Bristol Pond and were happy to stay aloft for long flights.
The workhorse needed some love, nose gear steering servo attention.
Several Hanger 9 ASW-20s — a solid performer all day in these windy conditions. Note: Change of weather lenticular clouds.

Just got in to Middlebury tonight, just after midnight.......sailplanes are in the trailer and my Bidule is in the back of the car ready to go.
I'm planning on being at the field early tomorrow morning to help with towing.
Looks like the flying has been amazing so far. Looking forward to seeing everyone in the morning.

Thompson said it all. Crazy lift today. Never seen anything like it.
At one point, the tow plane and the sailplane on tow were both going vertical like a elevator ride. Simply amazing to watch.
Great piloting by all the pilots today, there are some very skilled people in these parts. Nice to see everyone out and having such a great time. My thanks today to Matt and Josh for taking care of me, the towing order, the traffic pattern and hooking lines all day. Its a thankless but much needed job.
The Bidule rocked today!! 6+ gallons of fuel burned over 8 1/2 hours of towing. Lets do it all over again tomorrow.
Congratulations to all the guys who did their first aerotow, as well as Scot for a fantastic maiden with his new Arcus and Don for the same with his new CARF DG800.
Beautiful planes guys

Guest repliedRocking AWESOME day! WOW, as Dave said, the weather was exceptional.
Sunny, hot and in the mid 80s with BOOMING thermals, epic thermals. Several were caught out in these and had big big HUGE lift. Started after lunch in the mid-afternoon around 2pm above and to the south of Hogback mountain ridge. Must have been formed from Bristol Pond. The clouds started forming and a Fox from one of our Canadian guests found it first! Imagine a Fox being a thermaling monster. Guess we choose wisely for a club name, Green Mountain Thermal Corps… All of the sailplane pilots earned their stripes today!
Here are some photos, Jeff D. was shooting as well and I'm sure will have some great ones to come!
AMA rep in style, Assoc. Vice President, Pete Galligan from Rutland, VT was in awe of the scale sailplanes!
