  • Making 2022 Aerotow Event Plans - your input, event additions and ideas are welcome

We no sooner ended the main 2021 season and it's already off to 2022!

Some of the clubs making plans a bit sooner than usual was a happy cause of learning that Horizon Hobby would like to get back into the game in June! So, after some quick debate, this is the current "tentative" plan for some of the events planned for next year. Everything is still potentially subject to change or shift a week here and there.

TENTATIVE 2022 NORTHEAST AEROTOW EVENTS + ILLINOIS (person responsible for sanctioning)

March 17-20, Cumberland Spring Soar, Cumberland, MD (Jim Dolly)

April 21-24, RC PropBusters New England Aerotow, Salem, CT (Steve Pasierb)

May 12-15, Sky High Spring Fling, Muncy, PA (Steve Pasierb)

June 15-19, Horizon Hobby Aerotow at Eli Field, Monticello, IL (Ali Machinchy)

July 14-17, Cumberland Summer Soar, Cumberland, MD (Jim Dolly )

August 11-14, Windy Ridge, Hammondsport, NY (Steve or Kevin Kramer)

September 15-18, Sky High Fall, Muncy, PA (Steve Pasierb)

October 6-9, Black Dirt Squadron, Goshen, NY (Jerry Radice)

November 3-6, 56th Annual Cumberland Soar For Fun, Cumberland, MD (Jim Dolly)

    Thanks!

This may seem insanely early, but will definitely help in planning other trips for next year. Looks like I will miss a couple events due to family plans but I will work around the others.

FWIW, the Binghamton Aeros in their club meeting last week voted NOT to have an aerotow in 2022.

So, that resolves that issue and underscores how good it is that Jerry and the Black Dirt Squadron DO want to welcome everyone back to Goshen in 2022. Mark your calendars for October 6-9, 2022. The 6th is still uncertain at this time, but the 7th to 9th is set as the same pattern as in the past.

For the local guys, BDS wants to have us over for a day or two over the spring for some casual towing. Will keep you posted.

That's disappointing, really enjoyed flying there and meeting those guys.

I think it comes down to we fly too high and get too close to the boundaries compared to 99% of their usual activity.
