    Cumberland Thermal/Slope Fun Fly, May 1-2, 2021

HighPoint Aviation Airfield has a long history of R/C soaring events. The early events were dominated by wooden polyhedral winged sailplanes. There seems to be a growing nostalgia for those simpler aircraft and this event pays homage to those planes and bungee/winch launching. While all manner of sailplanes are welcome, the hope is many will find an old Gentle Lady or Olympic II to dust off and enjoy flying once again.

No food concession will be available at this event. Each person must supply their own food and drinks...and please take your empty containers with you as there will be no trash service available. Please note that we do have bears in the area and this needs to be considered in how you handle food storage and waste.

    Field Donation $20.00/day

Might have to revisit the name of this event...Saturday looks like slope and Sunday looks like thermal...The "Slope/Thermal Fun Fly" :-)

WOW, what a great weekend of flying.... Great lift both days. Russ and Erich flew Friday in the 50 MPH wind. Just an awesome weekend. Wish more of the slope lovers could have made it.... There was plenty of sky to share. Thanks Jim for your hospitality.

Dave, thanks for coming and for being the "grill master"...final count was 14 pilots. Carl and Gretta's last flights this evening landed because it was getting too dark to see!!! Every bit of the day got used...great time, thanks everyone for coming.
