  • Cumberland Summer Aerotow ~ July 22-26, 2020

    ***Click Here to Register***

    Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Cumberland Summer Soaring Event on July 15-19 has been cancelled.

    In its place are two smaller events, one for aerotow (7/22-26) and one for bungee/winch launching (8/1-2). For now we want to keep the number of people on the field on any given day to a minimum allowing everyone adequate space to set up without being closer than 6 feet to the nearest other person.

    If you would like to organize a small group for a different date, please let us know and we will try and accommodate your plan (two others are currently being considered).

    No food concession will be offered in order to limit contact with shared surfaces. Each person must supply their own food and drinks...and please take your empty containers with you as there will be no trash service available. Please note that we do have bears in the area and this needs to be considered in how you handle food storage and waste.

    Each person is responsible for bringing hand sanitizer and disinfecting products.

    Please bring a mask for use inside buildings as recommended by the State of WV. You will need a mask for entry into local businesses in both MD and WV.

    Landing fee donation is $20.00/day ($60.00 max)

    Numbers registered/day (Will update this list daily):

    Wednesday = 13
    Thursday = 14
    Friday = 14
    Saturday = 13
    Sunday =11

                    Home safe. A fairly easy drive although I did stop at the worst gas station in Pennsylvania. It is hot here also, so it may take a day or so to recover.

                    A few minor repairs to be done over the next week or so then ready for Windy Ridge.

                    Not many folks there this week but we did have a good time in spit of the occasional rain squalls. Tow pilots were excellent as has become the norm. Thanks for the tows.
                    Jim seems a little less stressed than normal, happy to see that. Thanks for having us at your facility.

                      Thanks, Jim for having the reprobates back on the mountain! I thoroughly enjoyed all four of my days, took everything home in one piece and stopped on the way home at one of the nicest gas stations in Pennsylvania.

                      My only maintenance is to re-hook the magical ejecting rudder on the Duo (ordered a 12’ Length of #24 actual piano wire online last night to make up a new 5.5’ pushrod). Nice!

                      Onward to Windy Ridge in August! Then Sky High in September!

                        Wouldn't have thought my first aerotow this year would come in JULY, but here we are! It was a spectacular weekend, putting flights on all 3 gliders, the DG, Shark and the 2-33. Big thanks to Gunny for letting me do some towing with the 185 and bringing my kit! Looking forward to getting started on it.

                        Thanks again Jim for letting us come spend time flying at the soaring paradise you've created!
