  • The Sky High Aero Tow 2019 -- September 12-15, 2019 -- Muncy Hills, PA

    LET'S GO SKY HIGH -- SEPTEMBER 12-15, 2019

Your pals at ScaleSoaring.com and our host/owner of the flying field Mark Eisele will be hosting another giant scale aerotow extravaganza at the Sky High Airfield in the Muncy Hills of Central Pennsylvania.

We will fly Thursday afternoon the 12th once we're certain field and flight-line set-up is completed. No lunch Thursday. This is a private field, so all arraignments are on us. The event is a team effort of everyone attending lending a hand to make it work. And, together we've proven it does!

Come out and join the fun in a gorgeous setting. New pilots are encouraged to attend and enjoy this relaxing weekend. Multiple tow planes capable of towing sailplanes up to 10-meter wing spans. E-sailplanes welcome. Fly until dark each day!

Camping, RV and trailer overnight on-site, no hookups. Lunch available Friday-Sunday for $5. Thursday arrivals please bring your own lunch and beverages. Abundant hotels, restaurants and shopping can be found in nearby Williamsport.

Lunch will be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday for just $5. Event is $20 per day, $50 for the entire weekend. AMA or MAAC is required to fly. This is an AMA-sanctioned event. All proceeds and donations from the weekend go to the Sky High field fund.

    DIRECTIONS:
Muncy Exchange Road to County Line Road to High Acre Lane
    41°09'04.0"N 76°40'37.7"W
PLEASE drive very sloooowly on High Acre Lane past the white farmhouse on your right as you entire High Acre Lane.

    REGISTRATION: https://www.scalesoaring.com/sky-high-aerotow

    Thanks!

    Ahhhh, remembering last year...

Where else can you go where the property owner says " If I bring out my Lambo, will you fly low over it?" and of course, we're shaking our heads "hell yeah". Three times.

This is one of those events where you can show up, pop up your canopy and just relax and have a great time......

Then there's the ice cream........ Jim? Pete? Conio? Scot?

I put this on my calendar! It is the same time as Clover Creek so decisions have to be made!

FYI. Very large RV's, campers and trailers frequently attend flying events at Sky High. A few tips on entry...

You will enter off County Line Road onto High Acre Lane (drive slowly past the farm house on your right so as to not raise dust). You will continue down High Acre past a large red farm building to a right turn into the flying site. The turn is too sharp for large vehicles as there are trees on the corners. Instead, you first swing off the road to the left into the grass area on your left around a small group of trees and then make a wide right turn straight down the entry road into the field. I’ve attached a photo – really big guys will take the wide track.

There are multiple options on where to park based on your preferences from being in the middle of the action to off in a nice private corner. Most of the RV’s and campers go to the left upon entry along the tree line, but that’s not required. This is a gorgeous place to fly.

Mark, Len and I are looking forward to seeing everyone in September!

Kevin K and I are trying to make this aerotow from Minnesoooooooota. Where are people staying at? (Looking for good hotel/motel recommendations). This is a new aerotow for us and looking forward to it. Hoping we can make this happen.

Most folks head to Williamsport (or the Faxon exit between Montoursville and WIlliamsport) since there is a huge range of hotels that grew up over the years to service the Little League World Series. About 20 minutes from the field. Good selection of food and drink in Williamsport.

Milton is another option, hotels at intersection of I-80 and 180, but a bit isolated.

We just call our Kevin K, "K Mart" if that helps.

Looks like do to some other appointments and commitments, Kevin K (Minnesota Kevin) and I have to cancel our attendance at this event. Have fun y'all. At least there will be no "Which Kevin K are you talking about?" confusions!

I'm told the East Coast Kevin K. is much younger and better looking than me. Should be easy to tell us apart...

It seems the most important issue is not the green grass, not the blue sky thermals, not what's for lunch. So, here you go.... http://www.edersicecream.com/

Yeah... one of the many of the important things in life...ice cream! Around my neck of the woods it's Graeter's Ice Cream. Mmmmmm!

Almost time to go Sky High!

Mark, Len and I are looking forward to another fun four days of flying with a great group of people!

Here are the field maps I've posted in the past. Trailers along the red line and campers typically go left of the entry along the long tree line. Safe travels to all attending. And, we always have room for more!
