  • FOR SALE: 6 meter span ASW 22 by Hans Muller

    Hi all

I have been flying this for the past number of years quite a bit and
have been having a great time with it at many Eastern events, sloping and thermaling.
Time has come to part with it and make room in the hangar. No crashes but
it did catch a tow hook once in air and made a small hole 1/4" hole in
wing, but was repaired and recovered with red covering.

Thanks to Steve P for the write up and some pics below with some amendments:

FOR SALE: 6 meter span ASW 22 by Hans Muller. No PIlot figure
included. All servos included, ready to fly. , just add receiver and
perhaps a proper pilot figure. Needs your batteries too (or
my 2 2700 Nickel metal can be included...from NOBS Batteries)

The full scale 22 is a classic 24 meter Schleicher sailplane circa
1981, while this 6 meter wingspan 1:4 model traces its roots back to
one of the legendary craftsmen in the RC soaring hobby. It was
originally imported into the U.S. back in the day by Robin Lehman and
employed as a big fast sloper. It had been hidden away until recently
when it again took to the skies, this time behind a tow plane.

Beautiful strong wings from the workshop of the late master, Hans
Muller. Wood over foam with the original Orafoil covering still in
darn good condition. Flying surfaces are all knuckle-hinged as is the
absolute standard for Muller wings. Fiberglass Rosenthal fuselage with
finish in white paint that has a few imperfections but still has a
high gloss and looks great. Canopy is crystal clear with zero
yellowing and locks positively. Seat pan is basic, sourced from a Let
model and sized for 1/4 scale pilot (the Axel pilot in the photos is
not included). Plane is currently balanced for with a pilot figure.

Wing servos (8) are all the fantastic Volz brand in proper mounting
Volz frames/boxes or the classic JR thin wing servos, with pushrod
fairings . Wing control surfaces are four ailerons, two flaps and two
airbrakes/spoilers. Responds well to camber in lift and tows
rock-solid with just 3/8" down flaps. Plane is 12 channel in total. JR
digital MG servos on the elevator and the tow release. Hitec digital
on rudder -- rudder pushrod is sticky. Plane operating on two (2)
5-cell 4/5A size NiMH 2700 packs included if you like from last
    season.

Four piece wing makes for easy transportation. Main wing rod is steel
with carbon fiber joiners in the tip panels. Wings connect to fuselage
with strong monoblocks while tips feature the Multiplex snap wing
connectors. No need for tape or other means of connection. It is a
tight, strong bird. Protective wing bags included -- red Mylar
exterior, clear bubble interior -- for all four wing sections and the
    horizontal stabilizer.

Flying surfaces are plug-n-play with the main wing panel electrical
connectors mating with connectors in the fuselage sides and the tip
panel connectors working similarly when mating with the main panels.
All wiring leads inside the fuselage are labeled for the corresponding
flying surface making receiver installation a breeze.

This is a rare unobtainum sailplane with sexy lines that both tows and
soars beautifully. It is now available for a new home. Yours?

$1950 complete as described above. PayPal okay as a personal
transaction, otherwise +3%. Prefer local New England pick up, or a
    NE soaring event.

    thanks
    Matt
