Help the AMA Foundation! Help yourself to a classic sailplane!
A family has donated a departed loved-one's collection of giant scale sailplanes to the AMA with the goal of helping raise some funds for the AMA Foundation. These sailplanes will be transported from Marco Island, Florida to Muncie, Indiana on our about November 7-10. The driver can be met in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and the Ohio/Indiana border on the Interstate drive up from Marco Island. Ultimately these will be located at the AMA HQ in Muncy for local sale if no sales are made on the way.
There are some impressive large models in good condition save some dust. All appear kit-built likely from German or similar kits. Mostly 1:3 and 1:3.5 meter sizes. I would broadly estimate prices in the $1500-$3000 range for the big ones, perhaps more or less depending on condition.
Stein Adler likely in the 5-6 meter span size.
Minimoa likely in the 5-6 meter span size.
Reiher likely in the 5-6 meter span size.
Bowlus likely in a 3-4 meter span
There also appears to be a Habicht in the mix
All the AMA seeks is a fair price. They don't want to give them away at swap meet prices, but with no emotional investment arent's looking to cash in. These are nice classic birds and the funds raised are for a good cause.
If you are interested, please contact Mandee at the AMA. Tony will be making the trip to FL and could offer more photos once he arrives. And, he can do meet-ups along the drive for anyone interested in making a purchase. NO SHIPPING ON THESE!
