Got the 800 up on the balance stand, took 55 oz of lead in the nose to balance. Put in 40 oz of lead shot and 15 oz of removable weight for adjustment. I installed a former to act as a dam for the shot, Scot suggested this and it worked great.

While it was up on the stand I got the last of the programming done for the wings, no surprises there. Got the tow release and the rest of the radio installed with the 3D printed mounts. Really happy with how that turned out. Finally, got the instrument panel on the cockpit pan and put some vinyl on. Need a couple custom decals from Callie and it'll be totally finished.

And just like that, it's ready for Cumberland!

One of your aft satellite receivers should be mounted so the antenna elements are vertical (90 degrees to the other rear unit). In fact one the front ones as well...

With 4 satellites and 3 axis, doesn't one axis get duplicated? Or what should the orientation of the fourth satellite be? I always wondered this. Sometimes I put the fourth satellite on a 45 degree plane. I think the real answer comes from looking at the frames, fade and hold data to minimize those and eliminating any holds. I don't see a problem with a duplicate orientation if the data shows good orientation. Duplicate orientation can also be good to help with blocking from components and construction materials.

After some technically difficulties and then going back to work, we were finally able to get out and maiden the DG 800! First flight went well, made some adjustments and then it really came to life! Working on getting it dialed in and having a blast with this thing! Last flight of the day we we towed right into a thermal and I was able to speck it out and had to do some aerobatics to get it back down. 15 minute flight! Thanks to Len B and Scot S for all their help and guidance wit this plane, so happy to finally have one! Check out the video at the bottom as well!

with the ix20 tx now you need a power safe telem rx to give you vario and speed reports then you will know for sure how great this plane is and i like to monitor the rx packs on the telem as well. glad the flights went well. now get the skylark up and going...

Congrats Kevin,. The menstrual looks good. I hope you get to fly it more than once a month..

Plane looks a bit nose heavy, it should hold the flair without the extra porpoise.

            Excellent!!!

Will there be any litigation over GPS speed vs Radar speed? Will there be a rematch? Will Rocky and Apollo ever be back in the ring??

I saw 200 on a radar gun - Len's 800 at Cumby last Summer. Benchmark.
