Got in a little shop time on the horizontal stab this morning. Parts fit well together with a little sanding here and there.

David, what are you going to cover this beauty with?

I plan to use Solartex Tim. Stocked up this past weekend while I had the chance. Haven't made too much progress this past week as work had picked up considerably. Did manage to advance the tail feathers and get all of the fuselage formers and doublers cut.

The tail feathers look good! I like how you put the fuselage parts in a bag to make it look like you bought 'em somewhere!

Fuselage is beginning to take shape. There were a couple of minor issues with a few stringer notches but not bad enough to recut new pieces. After a little work it is going together pretty well.

David, everything looks great! Nice fuselage parts. Put some G10 or CF plate where the axle mounts because these birds take some vertical as well as side loads that are astronomical! My Eaglet has a spring loaded carriage for the wheel and it still gets torqued from time to time and... knock on wood... all landings have been decent.

Thanks guys. Having fun but not getting enough shop time right now. Oh well. I was installing a couple of the fuse doublers last night and took this photo. I could hear David Attenborough in my head talking about the "...gathering of the clamps has rarely been photographed until now." Ha.

Those clamps... clamps... clamps... how do they make you feel, David?

            • #25
I don't know about David, but they remind me of a migration of Monarch butterflies, filling the trees for a brief rest before pressing on to a new destination...

              How's that for a harbinger?

ARUP and Larry - At one point I had almost 40 clamps on the fuse...starting to see them in my sleep. Ha ha ha. Last night I took a little detour from the build and roughed out a scale pilot.

Also made a couple of G10 plates for the fixed gear.
