Announcing the Inaugural July 1st – 3rd Vernon, British Columbia Aerotow at the St Annes Road flying field. Attached to this post is the Event Information sheet in PDF format. This event is jointly hosted by the St Annes RC Air Force and the Anderson Sod Busters Model Glider Club.
The objective of this Fun Fly Event is to introduce Aerotow Glider launches to a wider audience of RC flyers and give them a chance to get some “stick time†while being held aloft by the energy of rising air currents courtesy of the warm Okanagan sun.
The attached photos were taken in April and show the newly seeded runway and the smooth obstacle-free landing area to the east of the runway which is oriented northwest – southeast. A satellite view of the field area is also included. GPS coordinates of the entrance to Lester’s RC Facility are 50.398067, -119.315721.
We are fortunate to have three tug pilots confirmed for the event so you should have no trouble getting aloft throughout the weekend. There will also be a demonstration of winch launches to show how model gliders can be launched even when tug pilots may not be available. Flyers are also encouraged to bring their electric powered folding-prop gliders, though priority will be given to aerotow and winch launches for safety reasons.
Because of the heavy demand for motel and hotel rooms in the area, the onsite camping / RV option may be your best choice for this Canada Day weekend. Our guests from the U.S. will be able to attend this event and still be home for the July 4th festivities.
Once again we will be providing Gourmet BBQ Hot Dogs for lunch each day for a $5 daily charge. We are prepared to serve lunch at 12 noon each day. There will also be Hamburgers available.
Looking forward to seeing you on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Let's have a great turnout to ensure that this becomes an annual event!
