  • Finding a lost plane using GPS

It happens over and over again, a lost plane due to failure of a component or lack of battery power or just plain sight problems! This came about again last week in Cumberland, using a Drone in a vast area is limited, unless you have a good idea of the general area by having people triangulate the location from there position when it was last seen!
We did discussed using GPS devises that are easily obtainable from vendors, I have spent some time looking for a good devise that would serve us all well.
First of all if you are a Spektrum user there is the GPS unit SPMA9587, if you have a telemetry receiver or a TM1000 connected to a regular receiver, it will give you longitude and latitude which in conjunction with a free cell phone App. can guide you to your downed plane! The Marco Polo is a unit that can reach up to 2 miles by installing a small GPS unit in your plane and locate it via a hand held device but costs up to $300 depending on how many locators you buy, up to a maximum of 3. Loc8tor is a small device for around $70 that will guide you via LED's and sound, but only up to 400 Feet away. There are things like Tile and many more out there. So if you are already using one of these devices or know someone who does and recommends it, please chime in on this thread so we can reduce our loses
