          Neat info...

      • Hello everyone, Back to the regular schedule... Watching resin dry on the cowl plug can get boring, so I'll post instead.
Sanding the LE and TE caps on the ail. & flaps. Easy peazy! What else is easy is the included flap drill jig. It's a hit on my PT-19.
Check it out how it's done.

        • There is a center line drawn down the middle of the jig. Line it up on your hinge lines and hold it to the wing side or flap side.

          • To shape the LE, glue on the wing tip and tape on the wing root cap. Carve and sand to shape.

                • Back to the ailerons for a moment. I created this hinge center line tool because the Robart Drill Guide doesn't line up from the wing to the aileron do to the wide tabs. This misalignment is about a 1/16". The top skin of the wing climbs steeply while the ail. drops. also a picture of the bevel template.

                  • Well, the wings are done and now lets mount them onto the fuselage. The root end cap for now is just slipped into place.

                    • Now that the wings are mounted... My favorite part of the build which is fun is mounting the struts.
The original plan was to square cut them but I did not like the way they looked. The full scale was cut on an angle. So, I spent a couple of days to make cutting jigs for the aluminum struts.
Well, like Jim said "Attention to detail" does make it look a lot nicer. The struts are cut to length and on there respective angles in the kit.

The long bolts need to be double "lock tited" nutted together. These are in the fuselage end of the mounting. The reason for the long head is so you can grab them and remove them out of their recessed spot. the shorter ones are up at the wings. Water jet cut and pre bent steel fittings along with a bag of little airfoil spacers. These spacers get glued on the fittings and sanded to fit inside the strut tubes.

                      • Roughen up, epoxy and shim it away from the fuselage with 1/16" ply spacer and check alignment.

Have to clarify about these jigs. These are for the shop to cut and produce all the angles and ends of the struts.
