So what's with the vertical from the Himalayan Porter Scott?

The Yeti Porter suffered an engine out on short final. The berm at the end of the field acted as a ski jump / square dance partner (swing your partner).
Right gear dug in and pivoted the plane while launching it back into the air.... being sideways killed all the airspeed and it came down pancake style - left wing low from about 5-8 feet. ---Adhesive Bonding Testing ........-----So I started flying the Pawnee......and now the Big Bad Bidule (Triple-B)
I guess the Verticals are a memento of sorts.........and a reminder to build another one (just lighter this time).

Minor plot complication, .....Noticed there wasn't much down aileron movement before I removed the aileron and flap. Checking the fit before recovering them, I found out why. The holes in the trailing edge are offset a little toward the bottom. Checked the right wing and is seems to suffer from the same issue.

Attempting to plug the holes and re-drill ....of course 3/16 balsa dowel construction too.

Found a bit of a bow in the Aileron, so a little water on the leading edge balsa, some leftover change, and time helped out.

On to the covering and tapes. Installed the 8-32 threaded counter sunk screw first so I could put a patch over the head to hide it.

Wing strut cover reinforcing patch - pencil lines made it easy line up. ....also so I could get an idea of where the invasion stripes stop.

          Hi Scot,
How long did you have to leave the aileron to straighten out?

Testing the Poly-Tone Nevada Silver on the plastic parts - wasn't sure if things were going to melt or wrinkle.......
Used loop of 2" tape ( taped down on the sides ) to stick the parts to to keep them from blowing off the table.
Looks like Invasion strips are on the agenda next.

Looking very good Scott. Reminds me of my full size sys 1-26B rebuild. Will any of your new projects (tow or sailplane) be ready for Palomar RC Flyers spring event o May 5th and 6th?

                  Hi Jim,
I'm making good progress but ..........on a good note, the Big Bad Bidule does wonderfully on an asphalt runway with the brakes.....see you on the 6th (5th a possibility too)
