                    Talking with our friends down at the Horizon Hobby Aerotow today and looking at all the great photos posted here is getting us excited for the Sled-Works Aerotow. Good lift to you folks down in Muncie! See you soon!

                      We had a great four days of flying down in Owatonna this weekend. We had a good turnout, lots of flights, no rain during the day, and it seemed everyone had a good time. Also, it was warm but not “Africa Hot” and oppressive.

                      Our tow pilots really did a great job. Special thanks to Mark Robbins, Larry Sorenson, Kevin Kavaney, Jerry Robbins, Rich Ness, Lee Estingoy, Jim Frickie and Fred Sanford. They all did well and we appreciate all their efforts. We think that was the widest assortment of tugs seen at a Sled-Works aerotow. Kevin debuted his Cmelak (pronounced crazy big, colorful, and light tug), and he flew it very well, Lee Estingoy flew his incredible Wilga and wild “Saltow”. We had eight tugs 100cc or bigger and then we had a number of small electric and gas tugs that were busy each day.

                      We did not lose one tow-line over the four days and I believe we only dropped two. One landed on the field and the other across the road…and it was visible from the road and retrieved quickly. Easy. Gary and Larry were at the ready to deploy the receiver and getting that system running so well. Thanks for setting up guys!

                      Thank you Lyle Boyer for donating a Multiplex Cularis kit that was then given to an enthusiastic young girl who was at the event with her father. We showed them how a typical sailplane is set up and works, then got them both behind the wheel on a couple flights. By the end of the day we got them introduced to Neil T, the current ORCM president and it looks like they were going to join the club. Nice work Lyle!

                      Thanks for the photos Greg Johnson, Ib Jensen, Craig Christianson, and others. Keep them coming.

                      Thanks to Gary and Heike for mowing and trimming the field prior to the event…and then helping throughout the event. It makes a big difference and we really appreciate all that you do. The field was immaculate, thank you!

                      We really didn’t have any big lift days this time but we did have enough buoyant air each day that a good time was had by all. Mark Robbins had a 58-minute flight and there were a couple 30 minute plus flights as well.

                      Our event was invaded by three Texans…but everything was fine. Then we were invaded by Paul and Emil on Friday…things were never the same after that. Layne started towing up small gliders w his RC truck after that.

                      Special shout out to Neil Tryhus and Dick Baumer. They were as helpful and inviting to our crew as they always are. Thank you gentlemen for all of your help and hospitality!

                      The corn crop around the field was planted late so was approximately head high this week. As it turned out it really did not factor in as off field landings were way down. The number of accidents was also down. The few that did happen seemed to be repairable and should fly again. Rumor has it Leitgen dinged his bird just to get the ReKitter award. The awards didn’t look half bad. See attached.

                      And the awards went to…
                      Corn! = Paul Haley just missed the field but in so doing, snagged this baby.
                      Most Flights = Paul Haley took a commanding lead when Steve L. got scared and bailed out for the second year in a row.
                      ReKitter = Steve Leitgen
                      Sled = Mark Robbins for all his efforts and attitude. Thank you brother.
                      Longest Flight = Mark Robbins at 58 minutes plus.
                      Sleddin’ Around – Mark Williams drove up from the Dallas area.
