  • 2018 Sky High Aero Tow - Muncy, PA - September 14-16

    LET'S GO SKY HIGH -- SEPTEMBER 14-16, 2018

ScaleSoaring.com and our Host/Owner of the flying field Mark Eisele will be hosting another giant scale aerotow extravaganza at the Sky High Airfield in Central Pennsylvania. After a successful return last year, the scale soaring group is heading back to this spectacular location nestled in the hills of Muncy, PA.

We will fly Thursday afternoon the 13th once we're certain field and flight-line set-up is completed. This is no longer a club field, so all arraignments are on us. The event is a team effort of everyone attending lending a hand to make it work. And, we've proven it does!

Come out and join the fun. New pilots are encouraged to attend and enjoy this relaxing weekend. Multiple tow planes capable of towing sailplanes up to 10-meter wing spans. E-sailplanes welcome. Fly until dark each day!

Camping and trailer overnight on-site, no hookups. Abundant hotels, restaurants and shopping can be found in nearby Williamsport.

Lunch will be available Friday, Saturday and Sunday for just $5. Event is $20 per day, $50 for the entire weekend. AMA or MAAC is required to fly. This is an AMA-sanctioned event #18/1700. All proceeds and donations from the weekend go to the Sky High field fund.

We will only have one porta-pot on site plus the old out house, so we ask that everyone be courteous kind and clean for others. Thanks.

DIRECTIONS: Muncy Exchange Road to County Line Road to High Acre Lane 41°09'04.0"N 76°40'37.7"W PLEASE drive very sloooowly on High Acre Lane past the farmhouse at the entry.

    Thanks!

Hi Pete. My notes say 1247'. Jim would remind you that's a whopping 223 feet less than Highpoint! ;-)

Site and set-up details in photo below. Mark is excited to welcome us again!

For everyone arriving, please be certain to drive very slowly past the first farm (white house on your right) on High Acre Lane.

We will likely again have access to the large barn behind the flight line for plane storage -- tow planes having first dibs. Plenty of space for campers, RV's on the left of the entry road next to the flying field and tents up top for those wishing to make it an overnight. No hookups.

Steve P, does the airfield at the Muncy event have a GeoTex surface? If yes, how do you like it? Thanks in advance for your reply. MarkY

Hi Mark. It does. Left over from the club. It can take footprints if not walked upon gently. Got some tares from prop strikes. We avoid it for our events. Overall, not too impressed, but it is cheaper than asphalt (you get what you pay for) and probably ideal for small electrics and such that can't take off from grass.

Gang -- Mark and I connected this morning. We're looking forward to another successful weekend! A few details...

PLEASE PLEASE drive very slowly as you pass Mrs. Kenner's farm at the entrance of High Acre Lane. It is the white house to your right. Both go slow and if dry conditions, go even slower to not kick up a cloud of dust.

We will have one new porta-pot on site and the old outhouse. Please be courteous of the ladies when using the porta-pot and try to default to the outhouse for your #1 needs.

Lunch will be available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday -- sandwich fixings, pickles, chips, cookies, sodas, water, etc. For those arriving on Thursday for the afternoon flying session, please pack a lunch and beverages.

Conio Sessa will be registering everyone at the field @ $20/day or $50 for the entire weekend -- please be certain to sign AMA forms -- and also collecting $5 from those having lunch. If you would like to make an additional contribution to maintaining Sky High field, all proceeds after expenses go to Mark for being our host.

Travel safely and we'll see you soon for some green air!

Long Island must be a lot further south than I remembered...

Um, yeah, if it weren't for the bridges holding on to our sand bar, it would have floated down south...
There saying western half of the south shore could flood do to the 500 mile rain band. My basement floods very easily and I'm 1/4 mile from the water.
                      Working...
