Where did you get that Pilot Scott, and how tall is he. I could use one for my Pilatus Turbine.

Pilot is 18" tall and only $20 .....from Target

Some modification will be required as he's a bit in-flexible but at that price, well worth the experimentation......

Over due update on the 808b......

Landing gear doors "guidance" plates installed so the doors won't bind on the landing gear as it cycles. 1.75"x 0.25" springs (0.020 wire gauge) and Kevlar thread for keeping the door closed.

          Water Servos!

            Well....hopefully not....."Water Servos"...

The 808b is equipped with 1.25 liter water tank in each wing ....which of course is a scary prospect in a styro-Abachi wing...
            I don't plan on using it ...

Taking the easy way out on servo cover attachments....monokote trim sheet

And white vinyl peels off the surface and replaces much easier than monokote trim

If only Mercury was readily available, cheap, easily recoverable and not toxic for it would make great ballast for those tanks!

And just imagine how "sparkly" it would be.....raining down......

ooh,ooh.....maybe liquid sodium.......then Len could follow with the Big Nimbus water dump........and hopefully not catch on fire.....
wait....scratch that idea....would have to install a heater system in the tank to keep it liquid......darn....

              Some adjustment necessary......

Was having some minor difficulty getting both wings installed.......finally looked down the wing joiner tube and found my impediment....some left over epoxy. So out came my collection of dowels with sand paper attached........ some of the larger "things"....

Assembled for nose weight determination -- looks like 1000 grams to get the CG over the wing spar. I'll add stick on weights to fine tune

Very nice! Congrats! Flight characteristics? Trims? Horizon Hobby Aerotow next?

Next stop is the Horizon Aerotow......

It fly's likes it's on rails, really smooth .....funny you should ask about "trim" as a little way into the first flight I was testing out the thermal / speed flight modes and noted a sever yaw......so of course I trimmed it out......the roll response seemed a bit sluggish..... had to lead with a lot of rudder....... first flight was 30 minutes ....
On landing I noted the Yaw when I applied the flaps and spoilers ....so there was a bit of rudder involved..... Turns out the wire harness for the left wing came off and I was grooving around "asymmetrical"...........It really fly's nice with both wings "pulling their weight". Steerable tail wheel is really nice for keeping on the white line too.

You know a lot of the long wing span full scale sailplanes you do lead with the rudder.
