  • 1/4 Franklin Eaglet

Here are some pics of the build. On RCAT site the build was to covering stage. I covered wing and fuse with Koverall and Stix-It. The tail feathers got silk attached using nitrate dope... you know... the old fashioned way. Did I ever earn it! (all older codgers will remember that commercial) Everything sealed with nitrate dope brushed in place. I should have used a little more thinners... you can still see some of the brush marks. Then I sprayed white butyrate dope as a base coat. The 'Eaglet' letters were hand cut from masking tape and the 'feathers' and color separation lines were masked with 3M blue vinyl tape. The... thinned white dope sprayed to seal the edges and then red sprayed. White circles will get 'Texaco' stickers. It shore is purdy! Maybe this Eaglet won't like trees like the Vampyr does!

Thanks guys! I'm hoping to get it ready for NARCA but don't hold your breath. I still have to mask all those curves on wings and stab/elev that are supposed to resemble feathers! Then put on a clear coat... then put on the huge vinyl 'Texaco' stickers. Still need to finish struts and some cockpit details. Have to make linkages for horns to servos then install receiver, batteries and balance.
