Full size auto/truck booth at a friend of a friend. Top-secret location -- fortunately the owner flies RC, so he occasionally takes on an airplane project.

We contracted with the same workshop quality assurance firm as Jim Dolly uses. The white paint inspector approves!

Realized I needed to bring this thread current. The Salto is flying like a Champ. I plan to bring it next to Sky High aerotow in Muncy, PA this September 14-16.

The radio location/setup in this bird always had me a bit baffled. Winter Workshop sez time to do away with this and do something better.

Not sure if owner A or owner B did the dual 6V big honkin’ NiCad battery rig, but owner C (me) when over to smaller 5000 NiMh 5 cell packs years ago. Today the packs are headed to recycling and the frames were binned. The rails inside the fuselage that marry to the frames were carefully chiseled out.

7.4V dual PowerPaks will be regulated to 5.9V which will be much easier/consistent on the servos.

With the lean mean PowerPaks in the same locations, I needed to add 26 ounces of lead shot and epoxy to the nose!

No more sideways radio installation. Cleaned up the vertical mount a bit and went in a different direction— horizontal.

The new electrons fit well. A bit of touch-up from pulling all the other stuff out, not pretty but effective.
