  • Perlan II Project

Yesterday,September 3rd, 2017 the Perlan II set a new altitude record for sailplanes: 52,172 feet. The pressurized sailplane, seating 2, is designed to soar to 90,000 feet. Go to perlanproject.org for more info. At 84 feet in span, this would make an interesting 1/4 or 1/3 scale project. The round windows remind one of Rutan's designs for Spaceship 1 and 2.

Why not go all the way Al and do a 50% model, it would only have 42 Foot span

Yup, and pressurize the cabin and make it a single seat version, then take it up to flight level 50. That would be fun.

If it weren't that the wheel needed to be outside the pressurized section...
